CO2-emission will be reduced both in Grundfos’ own production and with our customers.
In the newly published Grundfos Sustainability Report 2008 we emphasize how we can make a difference when it comes to meeting the great climate challenge.
In spite of the financial crisis we maintain the prioritization of sustainability, and we aim strongly and determinedly at defending our position as the leading supplier of products that emit a minimum of CO2 due to their low energy consumption.
We are increasingly making CSR a part of our business. It is reflected in this report with examples of products, people, processes and purchasing.
Let us emphasize just a few of these examples:
- By means of our products we help our customers save energy and reduce the CO2-emission – for example A-labelled circulator pumps sold from 2005 till 2008 result in total annual energy savings of 536 mill. kWh.
- We invest 5.2% of our turnover in research and development of new products.
- The primary purpose of one of our New Business companies is to ensure water for the world by means of new clean-tech solutions, and they are establishing drinking water plants, run by solar energy, in small villages.
- We also take our own medicine – since 2000 we have reduced our energy consumption by 26% (in proportion to the turnover). Our production company in USA has taken the lead and has changed an essential part the conventional power by clean CO2-free energy from a solar plant of almost 30,000 m2.
- We are calculating the CO2-footprint of each Grundfos product so it will be easier for our customers to see how they can reduce their own CO2-emission by using our products.
Although the report focuses especially on CO2-emission and energy consumption, it of course also deals with Grundfos’ other sustainability initiatives and activities.
